Meet our team – Mike Vold

Over the past two years, our Customer Success Manager Mike Vold has worked closely with customers across a remarkably diverse range of industries, helping them overcome challenges, build confidence in their processes, and make the most of their inventory data. In this interview, he reflects on what he enjoys the most about working with customers, the variety that comes with the role, and the moments that make the work especially rewarding. Read on to learn more about his experience, motivations, and what keeps him energised both in and outside of work.

You’ve been at EazyStock for over 2 years. What’s your experience been like?

Honestly, my experience has been great overall. It can get very hectic at times, but the big thing I’ve experienced, which I love, is the willingness of everyone to jump in and help out at any time. The EazyStock team as a whole is very supportive.

What has surprised you since joining?

One thing that surprised me since joining was how many different industries I’d be working with. It has become one of my favorite thing – to learn about my customers’ businesses. It’s really cool to see how my customers have identified a need in a specific market and made a successful business from it. My customers range from agricultural suppliers to propeller plane maintenance and repair to beauty and skincare. To me, it’s pretty incredible that I get to work with so many different industries on a day-to-day basis!

What does a typical day look like for you?

My day usually starts at around 5 am. I try to sneak in a quick coffee before my 10-month-old son wakes up at around 5.30-6 am. I get some quality time with him before driving him up to my mother-in-law’s for the day, then I’m usually online by 7.30 am. My work day is generally focused on keeping up on my customers’ requests and going through customer calls (implementation/training calls and check-ins).

After work, my family and I like to take a walk to decompress and catch up on the day. Then, once we put our son to bed, my wife and I will put on a show. If we’ve had an especially stressful day, we make the call to have a ‘garbage TV’ night, which generally consists of some sort of reality TV show like Love Island.

What customer challenges do you come across the most?

I think the two biggest challenges I face are data integrity and adoption.

Data integrity is commonly an afterthought, especially in the small- to medium-sized business world. A lot of the time, companies just don’t have the bandwidth to upkeep their data.

Adoption can also be tricky as we are giving them a brand new software to learn in a very short timeline sometimes. I think it can be compared to learning a new language in some regards. I combat this by always being available to answer any questions my customers have. One thing I pride myself on is making my customers happy and being there for them as often as they need.

Can you share a proud moment or success story from working with a recent customer?

One of my recent success moments was when a customer had a long implementation period due to data integrity issues. Generally, the longer implementations take, the less likely end users will buy into the system. However, the customer continued to be our champion even with all the roadblocks. We continued our weekly calls and stayed engaged on the project. The last time I caught up with them, they were so happy with how much EazyStock had helped them day-to-day since going fully live and completing all of their training!

It really hit home because that is a huge motivator for me when I work. Our customers come to us at a stressful time looking for some sort of hope, and if we do our jobs right, we deliver that hope and happiness.

Outside of work, what’s something that keeps you inspired?

A big motivator for me is my family. I mentioned before that my wife and I are enjoying our newest addition to the family, my son Oliver. Its a weird thing becoming a parent because you are suddenly overtaken by this feeling of whatever I do I do for my kid’s betterment. Its honestly one of the most incredible things I’ve ever experienced in my life (once you get past sleeping much less).

The other big motivator for me is my wife. She has a very incredible drive to always strive to be the best. She inspires me everyday to be the best version of myself.

What is your favorite snack or drink to fuel while working?

My favorite drink, hands down, is coffee; I don’t think I could survive without it. When it comes to snacks, probably Doritos – not the healthiest option, but I love them.

What’s something about you most people don’t know?

At my core, I am a huge nerd. I love everything from Dungeons and Dragons to PC games to trading card games like Magic: The Gathering or Pokemon. But the secret is out now!
